Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012 1-4pm.
The seminar will be hosted by Rick Phillips, the popular Toronto-based broadcaster, writer, reviewer, speaker, and tour host in classical music. His website is www.soundadvice1.com for those interested in more information.
Much is made about the similarities between the people of northern climes like Scandinavia, Russia, and Canada. The symphonies by the legendary Finnish composer Jean Sibelius are famous for their suggestion of rugged landscapes, mists and hoar frosts. Bridging the gap between the 19th and 20th centuries, Sibelius’ music has a unique and completely original sound and style-dark and brooding at times, joyous and colourful at others, always wrapped in great sweep and epic power.
Please take the opportunity to add to your musical knowledge and enhance your enjoyment of great music by one of the world’s renowned composers. This seminar was originally presented on Nov.7, 2009.
