Canadian Friends of Finland (Toronto)
Devoted to the promotion of friendship, understanding and cooperation between the peoples of Canada and Finland.
PROGRAM:
7:00 pm Conversation, drinks (cash bar) and an array of Finnish finger foods (including piirakka).

7:45 pm Lili Ahopelto is a Toronto-based pianist and accordionist. She is currently in her third year of the Piano Performance program at U of T. Lili has delighted audiences at many events in the Finnish community with her piano and accordion performances. We especially look forward to her rousing interpretation of Finlandia.
8:15 pm Seppo Kanerva was born in 1944 in Helsinki, Finland. The family immigrated to Canada in 1952. His father was a fine cabinetmaker who taught Seppo his love and feeling for detailing and finishes. He studied architecture at U of T and graduated in 1969 with a travelling scholarship to work in architecture in Finland. There he met world-renowned architects, Alvar Aalto and Reima Pietila and was influenced by them. He returned to Canada in 1972 and in 1973 established the firm of Sedun + Kanerva Architects. Seppo developed an expertise in Housing for Seniors. His major projects include Suomi Koti Toronto, Suomi Koti Thunder Bay, Finlandia Village Sudbury, Hornepayne Town Centre and numerous Seniors Developments for housing and care throughout Ontario.
