8:00 Peter Longworth will return for his second consecutive year and entertain us with his magical piano styling. He will play selections from his most recent CD. Peter has been on staff at the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Toronto since 1991. He is a teacher, performer and recording artist. Of course, we look forward to his rendition of Finlandia.
8:30 Burt (Pertti in Finnish) Rairamo was born in 1938 in Viipuri, Finland. The Winter War with Russia started on March 30, 1939 and Viipuri was bombed. His family escaped to the countryside and eventually settled in Tampere. Tampere was bombed in 1944. The family emigrated to Canada in 1952. Burt had a brilliant career in the gas industry in Canada and upon retirement turned his attention to Finnish studies, literature and writing!
